Family Retreat
A family-friendly mountain retreat where landscaping meets playful functionality. Nestled beneath the San Gabriel Mountains, this design features native plantings, outdoor living spaces, and natural play areas under majestic oaks.
Against the dramatic backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains, Sacred Space Garden Design created an enchanting family sanctuary that celebrates Altadena's unique foothill environment. The journey through this thoughtfully designed space begins along a stone walkway that winds past a Heritage Olive Tree, its presence honored by a graceful curved retaining wall that seems to embrace the ancient tree.

The landscape unfolds as a series of family-focused spaces, each designed to enhance outdoor living while respecting the natural environment. A raised fire pit surrounded by comfortable seating creates a natural gathering spot, while an enclosed children's play area nestles perfectly within the existing tree canopy, offering both adventure and shade.

The crown jewel of the design is a luxurious covered outdoor living room, complete with a fireplace and comfortable seating areas, integrated with large ceramic vessels filled with native plants. Natural elements like a rock-carved birdbath provide peaceful touches, while views of towering Redwoods remind visitors of their mountain setting.
