In the heart of La Canada Flintridge, Sacred Space Garden Design transformed an elegant estate designed by the architectural firm of Troedsson Design and Planning into a harmonious blend of architectural sophistication and sustainable California living. The project began with a vision: creating a gathering sanctuary for a bicoastal family who wanted to embrace outdoor living while respecting Southern California's unique climate challenges.
The journey through this space begins at the front entrance, where custom flagstone walkways create a seamless flow from the street to the entryway. Moving through the property, a stunning pool anchors the space, surrounded by thoughtfully crafted deck levels featuring built-in planters that showcase drought-tolerant trees and native foliage. Decorative pots serve dual purposes, artfully dividing spaces while displaying carefully selected plants against architectural hardscape elements.
The crown jewel of the entertainment space – a covered pergola housing a luxury outdoor kitchen and bar – provides the perfect backdrop for family gatherings and sophisticated soirées. Curving lawn borders soften the geometric lines of the architecture, while intimate conversation areas invite quiet moments of California dreaming.
